I first encountered this thought about two and a half years ago while working a social work position in a prison. All offenders were enrolled in a substance abuse program and each day began with a meeting where, among other things, a thought for that day was shared. I heard this at a time I really needed to hear it. I wrote it down and placed it on the wall of my office. I didn't know the great Joseph Campbell was its source at the time. I've long been a student of his. I post it here as one of my occasional doses of wisdom and to be reminded of its truth.
