equanimity

I took this morning off from work and stretched wire over the top of the chicken coop. It has been some time since these hands have worked at driving steeples and sweat made its way down my back from such endeavors. The hens cackled about my feet with their colors rivaling the Autumn taking place around us. I have missed the land and the work necessary to bend it into servitude. The girls have yet to lay and they should have. I placed fake plastic eggs, wrangled from the daughter's toy bins, in their laying boxes along with changing around their confines a bit. I expect this to be stimulating to them. Tomorrow- eggs! Glorious hen fruit. A nice desert to go along with today's piece of mind from working with them.
